Biography

My name is Romane Hylton, and from a very young age I found my voice through a lens. Capturing family stories and anything that sparked my curiosity. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of a single photograph: its ability to tell a story, preserve emotion, and allow us to relive a moment long after it has passed. That fascination quickly grew into a love for photographing my family, friends, and the landscapes around me.

In the summer of 2006, I purchased my first camera, a Canon PowerShot A610 using money I saved from my summer job. My passion was so strong that my home became a creative space, hosting photoshoot nights where my mother and sister modeled different outfits. It was then I proudly earned the nickname “Camera Man” within my family.

Over the years, as I developed my style and honed my craft, I did so without formal training or certification. Instead, I relied on dedication, curiosity, and hands-on learning. This commitment led me to collaborate with highly experienced photographers who generously shared their knowledge and insight, further shaping my growth.

I currently reside in New York City, where I conduct most of my work, though I frequently travel for shoots both nationally and internationally. I remain deeply humbled by this industry and continuously seek new ways to grow, contribute, and evolve. My love for photography is endless; as it allows me to explore, capture, and create.
